Learn About Lacey Brunner
Lacey Brunner is a leading therapist who provides individualized treatment plans that focus on supportive and compassionate intervention.
My mission is to walk alongside children, adolescents, and adults as they navigate the complexities of life, learn to regulate their emotions, and engage in self-discovery. I use a holistic approach to therapy, grounded in a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective. I consider the emotional and psychological components of well-being, and the physical, relational, and spiritual aspects that shape who we are. I believe people are multidimensional, and I work collaboratively to help clients understand how these layers interact and influence their current experiences.
My practice supports adolescents (12 years and older) and adults, as well as facilitating group therapy. I treat a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, career transitions, self-discovery exploration, failure to launch, and relationship struggles. My goal is to help clients envision a hopeful and meaningful future. Inspired by the words of Brené Brown, I encourage clients to own their stories so they can begin to write courageous new chapters.
I bring a depth of experience from my time at the Menninger Clinic, a nationally ranked leader in the treatment of serious mental illness. During my time with Menninger, I completed my practicum and internship in the chaplaincy department. I led groups on grief, values exploration, and meaning-making—helping individuals uncover what they value most and how those values can guide healing. Throughout this experience, I incorporated techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), focusing on thought reframing, mindfulness, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I also help clients understand how their pasts influence their present and shapes their future.
A native of Houston, I graduated with a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin and later pursued a degree in Interior Design before earning my M.A. in Counseling from Houston Graduate School of Theology. My early career included roles in public service at the White House and the State Department. My long-standing passion for counseling ultimately led me back to the work I love most—supporting people through change and healing. Residing in Houston, Texas, my husband and I have two wonderful children.
